Shift Time

Shift time in the Monitor Utilities allows you to adjust the starting time of a file by whole hours in either direction. This is sometimes useful for moving data from one day into another. For example, if you have a person whose activity runs past midnight, and you want to use their 'waking hours' as the basis for your statistics, you can shift the data into continuous days by moving the step data appropriately.

Please note that shifting the data changes the time at which the steps appear to have been taken, for the hours remain 0-24, just the data is moved. So if you are matching data to a log you may wish to do this before shifting. This function shifts all the data in the file, it cannot be used on a single day of a multi-day file. This is not intended for a very short file.

A file where time has been shifted can be exported or entered into the database to become a record just like any other file. However, while the database normally warns you if you start to submit a data file that you have already entered, it does not do this when one of the files has had the time shifted.

This function is meant for files with the default 1 minute (60 second) interval.
